Coverage Terms & Conditions

Participating protection plans cover risks associated with the negligence of the store owner and are designed to be compliant with regulatory requirements set forth by the New York Department of Financial Services. The liability of the store owner is limited to the terms, limits, and conditions of the protection plan.

Evidence of forced entry and police report required to file a burglary claim. Coverages are limited for Building Collapse, Damage to Stored Vehicle, Boat, or Trailer, Rodent/Vermin, and Mold and Mildew claims — please contact us for details. Water damage coverage does not extend to damage caused by flood/surface water.

WHAT’S NOT COVERED

What Your Protection Plan Does Not Cover

Refrain from storing the following goods in your unit as the protection plan does not cover these items:

Aircraft

Animals, birds, or fish.

Valuable papers and records, including those which exist as electronic data and photographs

Furs, fur garments, and garments trimmed with fur.

Contraband or other property held for, or in the course of, illegal transportation, sale, or trade.

Antiques

Firearms

Jewelry, precious metals, gemstones, and photographic equipment

Accounts, bills, currency, data, documents, records, deeds, evidences of debt, money, notes, securities, or stamps.

Notable Plan Exclusions: Flood, Surface Water, Mysterious Disappearance.

Tips for storing your property

These practices will help you prepare for the unexpected.

Keep an inventory of your items and take photographs

Cover your property with drop cloths or plastic covers

Place boxes on pallets, skids, or 2×4’s

Always lock your unit with a cylinder or disk padlock

Store electronics in the rear of the unit

Avoid storing items that are not protected by your plan

Plans are priced monthly and included in the total rental fee

$100 per-claim deductible for all protection levels.
The deductible is waived for burglary claims when a cylinder or disc padlock is used.

Easily file a claim

Here’s what to do immediately after you become aware of damage or theft:

Take Photos: Images of the damage will help us resolve the claim even faster.

Keep your lock and damaged property: We will need these items to resolve the claim.

Provide proof of value: Sales receipts, photos of the items, and other evidence of loss.

Protect your property: Take actions to protect your property from further damage.

Call the police: Report break-ins to local police and obtain a copy of the report.

While your store may require some form of stored goods protection, participation in the protection plan is not required to rent storage space. The plan may duplicate coverage that may be provided by a homeowners or renters insurance policy. The protection plan is a month-to-month program. You may cancel your participation in the protection plan at any time.
